Privacy policy
GetSocialVideo – Social Media Downloader, a browser extension for Chrome and Edge, published by GreyApp.
Effective 23 October 2026.
In short
- The extension reads the page you're on only when you click its icon, and only in that tab.
- It sends nothing anywhere on its own. When you pick a post or profile in its popup, that one link opens on our download site for its platform.
- It has no analytics, no tracking, no account, no ads, and no code loaded from a server. We don't sell or share any data.
What the extension reads, and when
When you click the toolbar icon, the extension reads the page in the current tab: its address, its links to posts and profiles on TikTok, Instagram and X, and the captions, account names and pictures shown next to them. It uses them to build the popup's list. This happens in your browser, at that moment, and nothing it reads is stored or sent anywhere. Closing the popup discards it.
The extension doesn't read pages you haven't clicked it on. Chrome (or Edge) itself switches the icon to full colour on TikTok, Instagram and X, from the page address, so the extension never learns which sites you visit.
What leaves your browser
Only what you choose. When you pick a post or a profile in the popup, a new tab opens our download site for that platform with the post's or profile's public link filled in:
| Platform | Download site | Its privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| TikTok | gettikvideo.com | gettikvideo.com/privacy |
| getigvideo.com | getigvideo.com/privacy | |
| X (Twitter) | getxtwittervideo.com | getxtwittervideo.com/privacy |
The link carries a tag (from=getsocialvideo) so the site can count visits that came from the extension. From there, the site works as it does for any visitor, under its own privacy policy.
"Is it installed?"
The three download sites, and only they, can ask the extension whether it's installed, so they don't suggest it to people who already have it. The only answer is "yes" and the extension's version number. No other site can ask, and no browsing information is ever part of the answer.
"Copy details"
The popup's Copy details button copies a short technical report to your clipboard: the extension's version, your browser's version, the page's path when it's on TikTok, Instagram or X, and what the popup could see on it (counts and the page's own element labels), with no captions or pictures. It's for bug reports. Nothing is sent: you decide whether to paste it into an email.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
activeTab | To read the page you're on, only after you click the icon. |
scripting | To run the page reader in that tab, at that moment. |
declarativeContent | So the browser itself lights up the icon on TikTok, Instagram and X, without the extension seeing page addresses. |
None of these shows a warning at install. The extension has no access to any site until you click its icon.
Data we sell or share
None. The extension collects no personal data, so there's nothing to sell, share, or use for anything else, including advertising, creditworthiness or lending.
Children
The extension isn't directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new effective date. A change to what the extension reads or sends would come with a new extension version and a note in its store listing.
