Open benchmark · first edition Q4 2026
Most "best TikTok downloader" lists are opinions or paid placements. This one is measured: every tool gets the same public TikTok links, on desktop and on a phone, and every result comes with the data and evidence behind it.
Disclosure: this benchmark is run by GetTikVideo, one of the tools it tests. That's why the method, the code, the raw data and the evidence are all public — so you can check the results, or run the tests yourself.
Status: the method is frozen (v1.0) and the test links are public (samples/core.json). The first edition (Q4 2026) was tested 19–23 October 2026; its results are below, with every run, correction and review in the edition notes. The daily uptime check runs every day.
| # | Tool | Overall | Reliability | Ads | Quality | Speed | Privacy | Mobile |
|---|
Scores out of 100. Evidence and raw data for every number are in the repository.
| Tool | Uptime | Checks | Blocked | Days |
|---|
One video and one photo post per tool, every day the test machine is on. "Blocked" = the tool's bot protection stopped the test browser; those checks are left out of uptime, as are ad walls and photo checks on tools that don't offer photo downloads.
| Category | Weight | In short |
|---|---|---|
| Reliability | 30 | The file downloads, plays and matches the post; bad links get a clear error; daily uptime |
| Ads and intrusiveness | 20 | Pop-ups, redirects, Better Ads Standards violations, notification prompts, deceptive ads, forced waits, extra clicks. Showing ads is not penalised. |
| Quality and honesty | 15 | Resolution against the best available; "HD", "No watermark" and "MP3" labels that are true |
| Speed | 15 | Median time from submitting the link to the download starting, and how fast the file arrives |
| Privacy and safety | 10 | Trackers, cookies before any click, app-install pushes; tools flagged unsafe are not ranked |
| Mobile, accessibility, friction | 10 | Accessibility score, mobile usability, Core Web Vitals, logins, captchas, limits |
Scores use fixed thresholds, so a tool's score doesn't depend on how the others did. Full definitions are in the specification.
